i ran out of food for my guinea pig and gave it cat food instead! is that dangerous or poisonous to it!! it's acting sick and weak, is that the cause??Cat food can kill. Your piglet is an herbivore. That means their food are only plants That means no meat in any form should be fed. A piglets body can't digest the ingredients that are in cat food. Guinea pigs can die from eating meat based food. You cat is a carnivore, a meat eater.
Get your piglet to the vet. Or call the vet and follow his/her instructions to the letter. If you piglet survives this mistake, never ever feed it anything other than piggie food again.
i don't get i checked all the petstores and all of the foods had seeds in them i don't get itThe food may be made up or contain seeds. The article reffers to seed shells. On the other hand, there are some products out there that shouldn't be for guinea pigs at all yet are supposedly "made" or at least advertised for guinea pigs. for example.... exercise wheels and balls.

Can I feed my guinea pig oranges, lemons, or limes?
are guinea pigs able to eat dog food? i dont NEED to feed it to my guinea right now but i heard hamsters like it. i have not fed it to my guinea and WILL not feed it to my guinea till i know, i just want to make sure just in case i run out of her food. thxPlease do NOT feed dog food to your guinea pigs. I can't fathom why anyone would offer it to a hamster either. Dog food is based on meat by-products and starches, neither of which are appropriate for your herbivorous cavies! Guinea pigs need hay, proper pellets meant for them, and plenty of fresh vegetables.
